A Saudi citizen traveling to a travel-prohibited country without obtaining prior permission from the competent authorities exposes himself to the penalties stipulated in the Travel Documents Law.

Based on Article 10 of the Travel Documents Law, violating the travel ban instructions falls under Paragraph 8, which stipulates violating any provision of this law and its executive regulations. The specific penalty for this violation is:

  • A fine not exceeding 100,000 riyals.
  • Travel ban for a period not exceeding 5 years.
  • Or both penalties together.

The administrative committees in the passport departments in the regions are responsible for investigating violators and issuing penalties against them, in accordance with what is stipulated in Article Fifty-Nine of the Executive Regulations of the Travel Documents System.
